Shri Jatua inaugurates Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign At Kulpi

Kulpi (24-Paraganas-S), October 29, 2010.

 

Shri C. M. Jatua, Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, inaugurated the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (PIC) at Kulpi in the South 24-Parganas district, West Bengal today.

 

Addressing the opening ceremony of the three-day event organized by the media units of his ministry in the delta region of south Bengal, Shri Jatua said, holding increasing number of similar campaigns would be the Information & Broadcasting Ministry's endeavor in the rural belts of the State and elsewhere in India so that the target- beneficiaries among the weaker sections of the people could get practical knowledge and benefitted from all the Centrally-sponsored-and-locally-implemented welfare schemes. The minister urged all the media organizations to report such initiatives with positive criticism heralding in betterment of such programmes.

 

Shri Jatua complemented the local administrative bodies and Zilla Parishad for actively cooperating in this initiative aimed at causing awareness among the remote areas of the Sunderbans delta. He formally threw open the exhibit-pavilions, put up at the PIC by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, the media centre of the Press Information Bureau(PIB) depicting surge in Bharat Nirman component of Schemes' implementation in rural West Bengal and elsewhere in the country. Shri Jatua announced that the next PIC will be held at Sagar, South 24-Parganas.

 

Shri Abdul Kasem Mollah, Upadhakshya 24-Parganas (South) Zilla Parishad, Shri Praduyat Kr. Mondal, Karmadhadkshya(Education),Kulpi Panchyat Samiti, Tuhina Purakait, Sabhapati, Kulpi  Panchayat Samiti, Ex MLA Shir Jagoranjan Haldar, Shri Sudipta Debnath, BDO, Kulpi  and Shri Santanu Palodhi, Addl. Director General, Press Information Bureau spoke on the occasion. They explained the need of such field events and facilities available at the present PIC for welfare of the rural people. Cultural presentation by various troupes of the Song and Drama Division were held at the second session of the inaugural function. Shri Surendra Prasad, Dy. Director of the Division is leading a large contingent of artists to stage various awareness programmes. Shri Ajay Mhamia, Asstt. Director of PIB, the nodal agency of this event, appealed to the media for greater coverage of the series of PIC events held in the State.

 

At the onset of today's inaugural programme DFP organized an awareness Cicle rally from Belpukur, about 12 kms away from the Kulpi PIC ground. The rally consisting of large number of panchyat representatives from Belpukur, Karanjal, Ramkrishnapur, Kulpi and Kamarchak. Smt. Tuhina Purkait, Sabhadhipati, Kulpi Panchyat Samiti and Shri Santanu Palodhi, Addl. DG, PIB flagged off the rally which passed through all the panchayat areas along Chakdulalpur and Singherhat to reach the PIC venue. Placards highlighting rural development schemes, communal amity and development for all themes.

 

Interactive seminars, audio-visual exhibitions, sports and quiz events, awareness rallies, health camps and financial facilities by the district lead bank and gramin banks are regular events in the PIC events. The country-wide series of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign was launched by the Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry four years back in 2006. The present PIC in-and-around the Sunderbans is the 3rd  one. The earlier two were held at Canning and Bijoygunja Bazaar near Laxmikantapur.
