NHRC team to visit Uttarakhand from 15th - 18th July, 2013 for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

A team from the National Human Rights Commission, headed by Smt. Kanwaljit Deol, DG (Investigation) and comprising of Shri A.K. Garg, Registrar (Law), Shri A.K. Parashar, Joint Registrar (Law), Shri P.D. Prasad, SSP and Shri C.S. Mawri, Assistant Registrar (Law) will be visiting the State of Uttarakhand from 15th to 18th July, 2013 for the purpose of an on-the-spot assessment of situation in the State due to massive tragedy of loss of human lives and property caused by the recent floods/cloud burst and landslides.
The team will hold a meeting with senior officers of State Government on 16th July, 2013 in Dehradun. It will also hold a meeting with the NGOs and visit the worst affected areas.
The team will make assessment of various aspects including the number of deaths, relief camps, accessibility of food and drinking water, alternate arrangements for rehabilitation of affected people, assistance to farmers, medical facilities, provisions for the last rites of the dead, safety and security of the people, restoration of infrastructure, disaster management system, monetary relief, etc.
