NHRC issues notice to the Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi New Delhi, June 28th, 2011   The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC taking suo motu cognizance of a media report alleging that 22 people were injured when a a high-tension wire fell in a residential area in east Delhi .    Media carried report on  the 24th June, 2011 alleged that in the intervening night of 22nd and 23rd June, 2011 a 1,000 metre-long high-tension wire passing through Khajoori Khas, a residential area, in East Delhi melted and fell on the houses which resulted injuries to 22 people and partially burnt of some houses in the area.    Considering the matter, the Commission observed that the contents of the media report, if true, raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the victims and issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi to the submitted his comments in the matter within four weeks and also directed him to inform the Commission as to what steps are being taken by the Government of NCT of Delhi to prevent such type of incidents in future.   *****   Information & Public Relations Officer,  National Human Rights Commission,  New Delhi, India.
